What motivated you to work in veterinary medicine?

I have been an animal fanatic since birth, riding horses, feeding calves, nursing pups and kittens, all the way to owning and raising rabbits, ducks and even a couple house birds (cockatiels and green cheek conure), therefore everyone noticed my “special touch” with animals and always rooted for me to work in the field. I laid low in the terms of jumping into any given job or college degree and followed my heart doing what I love, being a caregiver to people and animals. Leading me here at the age of 26! Remember it is never too late to take the leap!!

What has been your most rewarding moment working in veterinary medicine?

Just getting to the position has been rewarding enough so far – so many doors of opportunity! I haven’t been in the field prior.

If you weren’t working at a veterinary clinic, what would you do?

Private animal care as in walking, feeding and tending while the owners are out of town or away for the day. I love it and the families and pets that I help. But needed more structure, so here I am!

What is the most exotic animal you have treated?

To be determined!

What animal scares you more than any other?

Nothing really scares me other than slippery/slimy frogs and slithery snakes. Any enraged animal is quite intimidating though!

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment?

Keeping my head and mindset as level as I had during a few hardships I went through around graduation time and turning 18. Instead of dwelling I tried my best to learn and grow. I traveled through many of the states, baking the most of my time in each one. Gaining knowledge of life, people and surroundings.

What do you do in your spare time?

Hike, bike, 4-wheeling, I trail ride my horses, and love longboarding with the dogs. This year I really got into gardening. I have a wide variety of fruits and veggies which I try my best to preserve, or share. I love my houseplants and trending to their needs as well as cooking homemade meals consisting of garden goodies mentioned prior.

What is your favorite comfort food?

A creamy or flavorful pasta dish – alfreado base. Or mashed potatoes. Loaded of course.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

Lack of communication. Please be upfront and honest about what you are feeling It will help a lot on many aspects.

What animals do you currently have?

I have 2 dogs, Bindi who is a mutt I rescued from Texas in 205. She is an adventure-thrill seeking queen. Lola is a chi-weenie, she is 2 and the complete princess who thinks she is entitled to whatever she wants (and usually gets it!). 2 barn cats, they are the most characteristic animals or cats that I have ever encountered. 2 appaloosa horses. 1 is 22; she was born on our farm and is now partially blind. But still living as fulfilled as ever. Boone is my gelding I have had since purchasing with my graduation money when he was 3, unbroke. He is 11 now and knows everything he is capable of via me. We are 2 peas in a pod, we do hundreds of miles worth of tail riding and exploring. He is amazing. This year (2020) I decided to take on 6 cayouga ducks, they are a beautiful all black bird. They are pets used for eggs and entertainment! Very awesome critters.

If you were to come back as an animal, what would it be and why?

Some sort of sea animal. Something about ocean/water life really is a freeing, super vibrant and magical existence. I would love to explore that way of life!

What is your favorite childhood movie and why?

Fox and the Hound. The story is sad but the will to reconnect a friendship so unique and unheard of always touched me.

What is your favorite childhood memory?

All my childhood was amazing. I was the only child, a bit lonely, but stayed busy with pets, neighborhood friends, and dirt bikes.

Name 5 things people might be surprised about if they knew it about you?

1. I love to cook and prep meals from total scratch.

2. I am a nutrition freak. I love fresh and good foods that make you feel good!

3. I rarely watch TV, and will talk through any show or movie. Unintentionally I swear!

4. Reading books and studying unknown topics that intrigue me.

5. I can’t reference like anything…movies…songs… It’s a serious insecurity around some crowds. LOL
