What motivated you to work in veterinary medicine?

I’ve always enjoyed rehabilitating horses and enjoyed watching their success later on.

What has been your most rewarding moment working in veterinary medicine?

Just started my career in veterinary medicine, but on a personal aspect I had a horse who tore her leg up. My equine vet said she would be lame the rest of her life. In 6 months I had the horse 100% sound. She went on and continued a career as a speed horse.

If you weren’t working at a veterinary clinic, what would you do?

I would love to be training Flat shod Tennessee Walking horses in Tennessee.

What is the most exotic animal you have treated?

None yet!

What animal scares you more than any other?

Snakes! I still want to try to hold one, if I ever get brave enough.

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment is when I was 12 years old getting a rescue Tennessee Walking Horse and training her myself. She later became multiple State Champion B Res. Champion.

What do you do in your spare time?

Manage our horse farm. Show and trail ride our horses. Compete in NADD (North American Diving Dogs) with my Shepherd/Lab cross Guinness. I also enjoy hunting, snowmobiling, four wheeling, pretty much anything that involves the outdoors.

What is your favorite comfort food?

Steak, Medium Rare!

What is your biggest pet peeve?

When people assume or call me Kate-Lynn! My first name is Katie and my middle name is Lynn!

What animals do you currently have?

I currently am a part of a horse farm that is family owned. We raise Tennessee Walking Horses for rail and trail. Also on the farm is chickens, ducks, turkeys and a few barn kitties (all kitties are a part of the Trap-Neuter-Return program!). We also have our security team (dogs): Cricket (Dalmatian/Border Collie), Daisy (purebred Rough Collie), Snoopy (beagle/Basset Hound), and my dock diving dog Guinness (shepherd/Lab).

If you were to come back as an animal, what would it be and why?

Flying Squirrel - wouldn’t it be fun to glide from tree to tree?

What is your favorite childhood movie and why?

Black Beauty (1994), great movie that shows the perspective through a horse’s eyes.

What is your favorite childhood memory?

Christmas with my grandparents.

Name 5 things people might be surprised about if they knew it about you?

1. I’m an only child

2. I have an extra right rib

3. I’m a NADD (North American Diving Dogs) Judge

4. I’m a mother to a handsome little boy

5. I like listening to hard rock, but will listen to old school country here and there
