Dr. Kim Peacock

local veterinarians
What motivated you to work in veterinary medicine?

I wanted to do something I felt was meaningful with my life that also helped animals

If you weren’t working at a veterinary clinic, what would you do?

I'd apply to Hogwarts

What is the most exotic animal you have treated?

I've worked with a lot of exotics. Some of my favorites experiences involved wild manatee health checks , assisting in sperm collection from a cheetah (I worked the 'teaser'...a stuffed cow on a string the big cat really loved). Owls have the most lovely eyes to examine. Brushing dolphin teeth, a kangaroo with an inner ear infection, pinning a crow's broken leg....lots of fun!

What animal scares you more than any other?

Humans. Number two is sharks in deep water where I am swimming

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment?

Getting my mother on a plane…...twice! I am most proud of being part of the summer release of peregrine falcons that resulted in the first male (M&M) to return to nest on the capitol building in Madison after the species had been extirped in our area mostly due to pesticide poisoning

What do you do in your spare time?

I listen to a lot of books, garden, enjoy my finches and aquariums, and play with the pups and cats I share my life with. I like breeding my pets. In my spare time I also work on my old house, paint, and drink wine. Given the opportunity, I birdwatch and snorkel

What is your favorite comfort food?

What is your biggest pet peeve?

What animals do you currently have?

7 dogs, 2 cats, 8 assorted finches, 4 fish tanks (fish, coral, and shrimp) and many house spiders I don't have the heart to vacuum up!

If you were to come back as an animal, what would it be and why?

A seagull. They get to hang out at the beach all day with their friends, fly and swim, eat seafood, and enjoy squawking at the top of their lungs whenever the mood strikes them

What is your favorite childhood movie and why?

Star Wars. Why??? Now that's a silly question

Name 5 things people might be surprised about if they knew it about you?

1. I've had tea in the Sahara

2. I've been north of the 60th parallel and south of the Tropic of Cancer

3. I inherited my grandmother's green thumb....well not as good as I remember hers, but I have a few more decades to fully develop it

4. I am a genuine Big Bang Theory type nerd. I played D& D in my youth, like Shakespeare, love Star Trek and Star Wars, used to read comics (I own X-men 94!), and enjoy ballroom dance

5. I invented two shots in my life. "Blood & Souls for Arioch" I was too drunk to now remember, but I might buy you "Frog Surprise" if I see you in a bar. It is a tribute to Monty Python and Chemistry
