
Associate Veterinarian
Hi! I'm Dr. Emily Sherman, an Associate Veterinarian at Veterinary Village. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Animal and Dairy Sciences with a minor in Psychology from Mississippi State University in 2021. I then completed my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Mississippi State University in 2025. I am starting my career here at Veterinary Village to continue to pursue my passion for canine reproduction and small animal general practice.
What motivated you to work in veterinary medicine?
Animals have been a big part of my whole life - couldn't image being anything other than a veterinarian.
If you weren't working at a veterinary clinic, what would you be doing?
I would be involved with working dogs in some way - military, TSA, service dogs, etc.
What is the most exotic animal you have treated?
Assisted with an MRI and anesthesia on a Serval
What animal scares you more than any other?
Snakes - especially when they find a way into my house!
What do you consider your greatest accomplishment?
Gaining early acceptance to veterinary school as a high school senior and graduating with my DVM!
What do you do in your spare time?
Work my dogs in various sports and search & rescue training
What is your favorite comfort food?
Ice cream
What is your biggest pet peeve?
People not telling the full story the first time.
What animals do you currently have?
3 miniature American Shepherds and a couple friendly little Holland Lop rabbits
If you were to come back as an animal, what would it be and why?
One of Taylor Swift's cats - living in luxury and a front row seat to the creative process!
What is your favorite childhood movie and why?
All the High School Musicals!
What is your favorite childhood memory?
Getting my first dog when I was 10 and all the accomplishments we achieved together like CPE nationals as junior handler.
Name 5 things people might be surprised about if they knew it?
1. I whelped and raised my first litter during my first year of veterinary school.
2. All 3 of my dogs are trained in Human Remains Detection
3. In 2023, I bred and raised my first Grand Champion Holland Lop
4. I am a lefty!
5. My first farm call took place in Germany.
